Managing metadata fields

By default, Portfolio provides metadata fields defined for the Dublin Core standard. However, you can also use the search fields defined in your system to use as metadata for assets. When you use a search field for asset metadata, the data entered for the asset is included in the index and can be searched and displayed as that search field.

You can use any search field defined in the system, but before the data entered for assets can be indexed and displayed, that search field must be included as a search field in a search source assigned to the profile in which you want the metadata field searchable. Also, after you have entered data into a metadata field, you must run the SD_ASSET_EXTRACTOR system task in order for the data to be included in the index.
